LB Bexley, Crossness Sewage Works, c.1965

When they were first established, boroughs were responsible for drinking water supply and the treatment and disposal of sewage. Today these responsibilities are held by other organisations, but boroughs still have to “be informed” of water quality in their area, meaning regular water quality checks.
